New Pictures of LessLoss Tunnelbridge and Firewall

It is with pleasure that I present to you the first pictures of our newest products. Both of these will be on active display at RMAF 2010 in Denver, Colorado, Room 437.

The LessLoss Tunnelbridge distortionless interconnect system

Here you see the new Tunnelbridge cable, in this case the balanced version. Both balanced and unblanced version will be available. This is not your ordinary cable. Within the cable is an advanced circuitry buffer amplifier which enables the signal to pass the cable without ever encountering traditional losses resulting from capacitance or induction. In order for the system to work as designed, the accompanying Tunnelbridge Power Supply Unit is needed.

At the heart of the Tunnelbridge system lies the extrenal power supply. Here you see it pictured on the front side. Because this is still our first completed prototype, there are yet no markings or logos on the front or back panels. Here you see the unit from the front. A dark blue LED is recessed into the sand-blased anodized aluminum faceplate and indicates that the system is functioning. This unit is not large and measures Length 182 mm; Width 140 mm; Height 70 mm. Allow another 2 mm height for the feet.

Here one can see the rear panel of the unit. Next to the power input socket, one can see provision for up to eight Tunnelbridge connections. These can power up to eight individual Tunnelbridge cables. In a system with four stereo interconnect pairs, the entire system's Tunnelbridge interconnect system can be powered by a single Tunnelbridge power supply unit, with no degradation to sound quality.

The case is made of solid Panzerholz, which is technologically highly advanced, extremely highly compressed multi-layered beechwood. During manufacture, high temperature and high pressure force the cellulose molecules of the wood to fuse chemically. In fact, this material is so dense that it sinks in water. This material is used as a neutron shield in nuclear research. Its acoustic vibration damping parameters are extraordinary, and in this utilization, which is a world's first, the sleek beauty and form of design is sure to adorn any living space. This is a very heavy piece of equipment.

Here one sees the LessLoss DFPC Signature powering the LessLoss Tunnelbridge Power Supply Unit. The USB type outputs are special connections unique to LessLoss and are not related to the typical computer USB standard. Using our system, one Tunnelbridge power supply unit can power up to 8 separate Tunnelbridge interconnects via these connections. This flexibility of design ensures that every user will be able to scale the system to individual system needs, and to be able to expand thereupon as required.

Presenting the new LessLoss Firewall

The new Firewall measures Length 350 mm, Width 110 mm, Height 110 mm. Allow another 2 mm for the feet. It features one IEC input and one wall socket output of your choice: European Schuko or USA/Japan type. The unit is quite small and extremely compact in design, but don't let the dimensions fool you: the bass weight and definition will overwhelm you and make you think twice about the influence that power has on sound quality. The Firewall is recommended to be used as an upgrade to the already extremely effective DFPC Signatures.

Precision milled Panzerholz is used in a unique way to absorb and to dissipate physical vibrations. Carbon fiber, sand-blasted aluminum, and Panzerholz are used together to provide a no-compromise solution for the case. Within the unit, the skin-effect filtering method, just as the one used in the DFPC Signature, albeit many times in effectiveness, is at work filtering the noisiness off of the line while in no way impeding the natural flow of dynamic power to your system.

The use of dense Panzerholz in this way is a world's first, and its beauty and functionality together make this solution truly a trophy piece where top performance and appearance are desired. The passion we share at LessLoss is evident down to the last detail of design.

Use of Firewall in audio systems

First of all, it is not recommended to use the Firewall with the DFPC Original. The DFPC Signature is already very far ahead in terms of resutling sound quality, so the first step is to make sure that all components benefit from use with the DFPC Signature.

Then, one has choices.

There are about three levels of quality possible when using the Firewall.

One Firewall:

The first step is, that one can use a DFPC Signature from the wall master outlet of the whole system to a Firewall, and from there via a Signature to your distributor, and from there via Signatures to the rest of the system. The required DFPC Signature for the Firewall will be available for a nominal cost and I will make a very attractive offer to anyone needing an additional Signature to go along with their purchase of the Firewall.

Everyone needs different lengths, therefore the special offer to each and every client.

Two Firewalls:

Next, one can use two Firewalls: one for the source components between the wall and them, and another between the wall and the amp directly (if it is stereo) or one between the wall and two mono amps through another distributor. The distributor in use does not need to be special. The Firewalls already take care of so much of the sound quality that the distributor's function in terms of its sound influence is pretty much dwarfed in comparison. We have had excellent results with Furutech's distributors. The sound quality is neutral. I would avoid using a distributor with any active elements in the electrical path such as coils and capacitors.

System Placement:

The best way is to keep the Firewall as close to the component in question as possible. So, for example, if from the wall there are three meters, I would recommend placing the Firewall two meters from the wall and one meter from the component, as opposed to one meter from the wall and then two meters to the component. This is because of the antenna effect which, even though the Signatures are effective in this regard, still can an effect on the sound quality. In other words, you want to get the best out of the Firewall, which means you want it's result fed pretty much directly into your equipment. On special request we will manufacture half meter cords for you.

Multiple Firewalls:

The very best results will be achieved using one Firewall for every component. This is the way we are going to demonstrate them at RMAF in Denver Colorado in just over a week's time. We will have four components in the system with four Firewalls, one between each component and the wall.

This way, we achieve the best separation between all of the components individually, and also the maximum power capacity of the power system. This will truly be a very special event.
