Minvydas Razaitis, child prodigy, plays Passepied from J.S. Bach's English Suite No. 5, E-Minor, BWV 810

A free recording to demonstrate sincerety in the search for quality

A very heartfelt thanks to Minvydas Razaitis for providing us with the opportunity to record his rendition of this wonderful Passepied from Bach's English Suite No.5. He said it was the last time he was playing the piano in public; let us assume he was only kidding.

Oh, the poor old Steinway...

The piano is an extremely old and battered Steinway & Sons full grand, which has seen its share of vodka and coffee grounds, wild parties with drunken soldiers and perhaps a general or two playing salon music duets before it got too roudy.

Just to give you an idea, I provide you with some footage of what shape the piano was in while being tuned a couple of hours before the recording. Of course, to save your sanity, I did shorten it greatly. These are just some tidbits of the tuning process. I don't know if this process is appreciated these days as much as it should be, so I recorded it. Helps one appreciate the music more for what it is. In Bach's day, the art of tuning was as important as the art of playing.
