Frequently Asked Questions

(Q) What is the inner diameter of Jam Gloves™?
(A) 41mm inner ring diameter. Center of basket is smaller, and expands according to power plug diameter as you slip it on. Some force is needed. You can wiggle it on.

(Q) What is the outer diameter of Jam Gloves™?
(A) 53.5mm. This means it is too large for US/Japan/China type duplex outlets, when both outlets are in use.

(Q) Which end of the power cord should I use Jam Gloves™ on first?
(A) Start on the IEC equipment plug end first. Only when all power cords' IEC equipment ends are outfitted with Jam Gloves™, then use additional ones on the power cord's wall plug end for additional benefits.

(Q) I have a Plug-and-Play Firewall connected to the end of my power cord. Should I put Jam Gloves™ on the Firewall only, or both on the Firewall and on the equipment end plug of the power cord?
(A) Use Jam Gloves™ on both!

(Q) Should the Jam Gloves™ touch my equipment (or wall outlet) once installed?
(A) No.

(Q) How do I use it?
(A) You just:

  • (1) Remove a power plug,
  • (2) slide the Jam Gloves™ housing over the plug,
  • (3) and plug the power plug back in.
Jam Gloves™ require no dismantling of your power cable or power plug. They simply slip over the plug.

(Q) Are these sold in pairs, or sold separately?
(A) Jam Gloves™ are sold in units of one. Discounts are available according to the number of them in a single order and shipment.

(Q) When will you start to ship the first Early Bird orders?
(A) We plan to being shipping on the 8th of May!

Jam Gloves™ launch party theme: "The Emperor is wearing no clothes!"

In describing the "perfect" cable, our industry at large puts much effort into various justifications as to why this or that special sauce is best. It seems to always center around the conductor itself, and comes in the form of a kind of plausible theory. Regardless, conviction usually follows only after a sort of leap of faith anyway.

People hear theories about metallic purity, crystal boundary reduction, skin effect reduction, ever more "nines," speed-of-light indexes, silver vs. copper arguments, carbon superiority, nanotube keywords, low oxygen content races, and many more, including... "quantum" stuff... I'm not even going to go there.

Let's just be brutally honest here. All this talk simply falls apart when we peel away layer upon layer of such abstract theories, sit back, and finally acknowledge the obvious thousand pound elephant in the room.

The weakest link is of course the physical contact point. Of all those probable wire improvements, none of them even come close to the impact the physical connection makes. Although it is obviously true that one metal part touching another metal part creates a functionally conductive contact, has anyone ever asked why we justify all the other theories when we have the largest, the most obvious, and the most easily seen physical junction sitting right there, staring us in the face?

No amount of improvement to the conductive molecular structure of a metal is ever going to override the huge gap left when metal merely touches metal. This goes way beyond any minor offense caused by a mere internal crystal boundary.

I mean, honestly, what are we even comparing here? Are we seriously faulting an atomic level deviance in microstructure, seen only with our theoretical understanding or fuzzy microscopes, with the physically obvious metal-to-metal contact which can be seen with the naked eye by every 5-year-old?

And I'm not even talking oxidation. I'm talking a brute physical vs. any type of true molecular bond. Come on!

I'm here to state clearly that the Emperor is wearing no clothes! That's the takeaway for our Jam Gloves™ launch party, and we cordially invite you to celebrate together! We're going to dress him up well and together we will jam like never before!

Jam Gloves™ are a big upgrade for the electrical connections made at the ends of power cables. Their installation is non-invasive (you don't dismantle the plug). You just slip them on, plug the power cord back in, hit play, and jam!

Jam Gloves™ burn-in mystery: personal impressions from Louis Motek

You're in for the unexpected. Jam Gloves™ burn-in is unlike anything you have ever heard before. I myself almost 'crapped my pants' experiencing the strangest burn-in phenomenon ever. My mind swirled in disbelief as I struggled to get my head around the changes I am actually experiencing.

Here I'd like to try to condense this unexpected phenomenon into words. They don't entirely do it justice, but may serve as a sort of guide or warning, in order to help prepare you for the wild, novel experience that is to come. So, even though I have no idea if this can resonate with anyone who has never experienced it directly, here is my honest attempt at offering my personal impressions during final product evaluation.

Every time I added additional Jam Gloves™ to the system, I had the uncanny feeling of it burning in backwards. Now you may think that makes no sense, since the end goal of burn-in is always better results than at the beginning. So, surely, if I say it burns in backwards in time, you'd think 'it starts out excellent and burns in to sound ever poorer over time? What?!'

But that's not what I mean. It seems to burn in backwards, not in overall time, but in terms of the ADSR envelope of each note. ADSR stands for Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release. This terminology comes from music synthesizers, but is easily applied also to the envelope of any note played on any physical musical instrument. We can add the influence of the acoustic venue to the Release portion of the envelope to encompass all of the events which make up the recorded material.

First impression is of peering behind a veil and discovering without any doubt that there are new universes back there in the reverb tails. A mental fight ensues, between 'this is kinda gross' at the attack and initial decay level, and even on the sustain level, but at the same time you cannot honestly un-see the huge constellation of newly visible complexity of stars at the release portion, where the tails of all sounds are telling you more than ever about true content created by the musicians, and how this is even more revealed by how their initial input reacts with the sonic environment in which they are active.

So, in a strange way, peering into this tail end, we gain a lot of insight how each note had to have attacked, such as how the inner body of a cello resonates and how the reverb tail echoes the initial attack. But that attack is missing! So strange! But you keep marvelling at the depth of the tail ends, and so you keep listening.

Next day, there is already far more logic behind how the entire note meshes together, but still the attacks themselves don't seem to justify all the additional data discovered in the tails.

Third day, it's even better, always increasing in believability from end to start of each note, going backwards!

Fourth day, the mind stops playing reverse psychology.

Fifth day, and everything including the attacks become lusciously digestible. Complete logic from attack to tail's end now melds into complete believability.

By day 6, it is impossible to deny that the entire system's performance has skyrocketed. But you sit there in wonder how all of this started and progressed... backwards.

I don't know if this has to do with the fact that Jam Gloves™ don't pass electricity (since there are no metal parts). We are well versed in the normal burn-in procedure with regard to conductors. But this, this is a far different experience! Like I say, you're in for a real treat! Weird, fascinating, and jaw-dropping, are the only terms that keep coming to mind. It burns in backwards!
