Breaking News: New product named! Trial production run in progress, with pictures!

Dear esteemed Customers,

The new Blackbody-Ground interface is officially named! Thanks to some great customer input from Jens Thorsen in Denmark, we've decided to name it by the humorous and perfectly apt name BlackGround.

LessLoss Blackbody

What is BlackGround?

BlackGround is an innovate new technology developed by LessLoss which comes in the form of a simple 64mm x 64xmm metallic cube with two contacts featuring M3 threads. It can be used in a vast variety of ways to elevate sonic performance to unprecedented levels.

The first and most simple application is as a bridge for users of the Blackbody v.2 ambient field conditioner. It is to be connected between Blackbody v.2 and ground potential of your home's wiring. This results in elevating the Blackbody's performance to a large degree, conditioning the entire system's ground plane in the process. The concept of ground without the cosmic environment is not feasible, nor is the cosmic environment completely independent of the Earth's existence within it. Taking both into consideration and interfacing them through BlackGround establishes superb conditions for any high end audio playback environment!

LessLoss will also use this cutting-edge technology integrated into our pending new mono block amplifier, which, incidentally, has also now been named. The amp will be named New Horizons. In it, multiple BlackGround devices will integrate both with the power feeding it, as well as with the speaker signal output. More on this in a future update on progress regarding the amplifier, which at this moment is being milled for the first time out of a block of iron in a high precision workshop in a neighbouring town.

Initial small scale BlackGround production run is in progress!

To keep you in the loop, I took some time off of our busy schedule to carry out a 5-minute photo shoot of some of the units partly assembled. (You may find the lighting quite dim. This is because at present half the lights in the workshop are burned out and we are in dire need of some household upgrades here, always prioritising progress of our audio work while listening in a dimmed environment anyway, so it falls under 'it can wait...!')

No shortage of experiments

To show you some work nobody ever really sees, here's a taster to give you an idea of just how much R&D and experimentation goes unnoticed prior to release of a new product.

In an almost Darwinian "survival of the fittest" type evolution, every new concept undergoes countless alterations and revisions, refined at every step based on insights learned from prior experiments. When inspiration calls, there's no stopping us.

Above you see some of the early predecessors of the award winning Firewall for Loudspeakers and Firewall 640x award-winning technology. These 'dinosaur bones' each left some trace of design and materials DNA which eventually developed into the mature technology you enjoy sonically today in finished product form.

Likewise, countless iterations of the new BlackGround technology have made the rounds. A few snapshots below demonstrate some of the various testing setups which have been examined and learned from.

The BlackGround production test run

Below are some initial units being assembled in small batches. As mentioned before the base itself will be covered in cork to protect any surface you choose to place it on (the device is small but quite heavy).

LessLoss Blackbody

The material ultimately chosen is actually half cork, half rubber, so it slips even less.

LessLoss Blackbody

We have enough of these stamped out now to start serial production in earnest.

So the padding is going to elevate the enclosure up from any potentially conducting surfaces or gear you'll place the device on. This way you can control exactly where you route the ground potential. You can see the cork/rubber as a thin slit just under the base.

LessLoss Blackbody

As stated above, it's a Blackbody-Ground, or Signal-Ground, interface. As such, one of the two contacts is always connected to ground potential, regardless of application. The entire enclosure is also at ground potential, achieved through welding of the actual device within to the heavy iron enclosure. Picture below.

Six points, each receiving 1200 Amps of current, melt into one another to form an eternal material bond. So any ground potential within the device itself is also present throughout the entire outermost enclosure.

Below is an image of one of the production processes related directly to the build of internals. Seen below is a precision laser cutting process. Being cut are sheets of the mineral Mica, chosen for its superb dielectric properties and ability to maintain such under high temperature exposure. Our proprietary Entropic Process creates certain demands met well by this material.

If you want more details on specifics of our design and an in-depth explanation on theory of operation and specific steps utilised to achieve this, I'm sorry, this is as far as we'll go here. We can go two routes: Patent and publish (very expensive and opens the door anyway to copy-cats and countless lawsuits and migraines), or keep quiet and just get on with spreading the joy of the results at rock-bottom price (sounds good to me!). The contacts you will be using will protrude from the top lid. They will both be threaded for use with M3 size bolts. Close-up below.

First run of 10 units now partially assembled. Asked to parade for the quick picture they complied.

Not yet carried out in these images is the next step of potting everything inside with slow-curing completely transparent epoxy resin, just like our Firewall 640x. After three days of curing, everything hardens to rock and it only gets harder and harder with time as it matures. The topmost lid is not yet fastened to these. It will be silk-screen painted. The artwork which will be on the lid is below.

It is quite clear which of the two contacts is meant for ground potential. I hope it is equally clear how excited we are that release for your adoption is nearing!

Thank you for continuing to follow the latest here at LessLoss. More news shall be forthcoming!

Be safe and enjoy great sonics in the meantime!
