Firewall Update and Tunnelbridge News

Firewall Delivery

We are coming very close to delivering our first Firewalls. These will be delivered in the order in which they were pre-ordered. In a couple of weeks we believe we will have sent out all of the outstanding pre-ordered units!

I thank you all for your patience. This is such a beautiful project. We'll be providing pictures of the work that goes into the Firewall in the next couple of days.

Because we are not selling these through dealers, we are not throwing money at fancy pacakaging, since these don’t need to compete for attention on the shelves of local stores. The goal of the Firewall is to provide great organic sound and nice looks. This is an incredibly designed product! You will like what you see.

Tunnelbridge soon available

We are now accepting orders for the Tunnelbridge distortionless interconnect solution. Finally, the ultimate solution is now available. The pricing has been set as follows.

Tunnelbridge Power Supply Unit for up to 8 mono channels: 2600 USD
Tunnelbridge RCA type; length 1.5 meters; one stereo pair: 1800 USD
Tunnelbridge XLR type; length 1.5 meters; one stereo pair: 2500 USD

For one stereo pair of Tunnelbridge cables, two USB to USB mini cables are required.

The following snapshots were made during the laser engraving of the LessLoss Tunnelbridge distortionless interconnect solution's power supply unit. I wanted to share with you how the design of the faceplace will look.



Above you see, at the top, the large lens of the laser etching device. It streams out strong impulses of single bandwidth light at a rate of 2000 pulses per second.



Because we are working at the highest possible resolution available, the process is very slow. Slowly, the design pattern emerges on the sand-blasted and anodized aluminum surface of the faceplate.



Using a high speed camera and macro lens, we were able to catch some lucky shots of the plasma forming at about 10 thousand degrees centigrade. The metal burns so hot that the sparks burn up completely in the air before they have a chance to cool.



Just why the sparks seem to turn directions abruptly at the very tips of these trails is beyond me. Most likely they are passing some critical temperature / mass ratio.



The LessLoss logo is slowly appearing as well. This process is very slow. At this point we are at approximately the 7 minute mark.



The laser is just finishing up the very end of the artwork, as you can still see by the four brightly lit flares at the far right of the circular patterns.



After about a quarter of an hour, the process is finished. After laser engraving comes the manual job of cleaning.



A thin layer of special oil was applied prior to the laser engraving to ensure that the edges do not appear out of focus due to their hot burning. Here I am wiping these oils away with a soft cotton cloth.



So there you have it. After a whole day of this, we have about 10 sets of scrupulously laser engraved panels to work with. There is going to be a dim matt blue diode in the recessed hole there in the middle, which will indicate that the unit is on.

We will post more pictures from more angles when we assemble the first units in the near future.
