More dynamic.
We offer an elegant solution to increase dynamics by doubling the conductivity of the power phase conductor from the Original's 6 mm2 to the Signature's 12 mm2. In the DFPC Original, there are three conductors: one for phase, one for neutral, and one for ground. In the DFPC Signature, there are four conductors: two for phase, one for neutral, and an additional for ground. With the doubling of conductivity for the phase connection, we have achieved an even more natural clarity and robustness of the sound. However, achieving this does not mean that the Signature is less flexible. It is not stiff and is as easy to flex and install as the DFPC Original. The DFPC Signature weighs only negligibly more than the DFPC Original.
Better filter.
Ongoing work on the LessLoss Firewall and Blackbody has brought new insight into some exciting design possibilities for the DFPC Signature. In the DFPC Original, we utilize the naturally accurring skin effect to its own detriment, in order that the cable be inhibited as an antenna while connecting the gear with the power grid or power filter / distributor. The development of filtering via a purposefully lossy skin treatment has proven a great success with many satisfied users worldwide. We incorporate this same skin treatment in the DFPC Signature. In addition to this, we implement further skin treatment featuring overlapping high frequency absorbance and reflectance spectra to maximize this high frequency noise suppressing faculty. The result is not simply a "poorly conductive" skin, but one which combines poor conduction with refined and highly tuned high frequency spectrum manipulation to inhibit electronic noise more than in the Original and to bring the nature of music more to the forefront. Something as simple as a cheap transistor radio thus becomes an almost holographic sound source, due to lack of noise normally associated with electronics.
How it works.
Noise always works from the top down. That is to say, low frequency noise does not really exist, apart from the 50 or 60 Hz fundamental power frequency, without which we can't power our equipment. The harmonics (going up) from 50 or 60 Hz exist because the power encounters non-linear loads, because it goes through transformers with hysteresis, because it was created with generators which have non-perfect flux distribution, not to mention things closer to home which buzz and hum, adding harmonics to the 50 or 60 Hz. These are all harmless to your audio quality, as they are effectively filtered out by the filters built into your audio gear's power input electronics, which is exactly what they are built for. But going from the top down, we have the real source of noisiness which intrudes upon the natural sound of music. This is the non-linear, non-predictable interaction of the audio signal or digital clock and data retrieval system with high frequency radio and even light waves. Not all light is visible, and most of it is in bandwidths which we cannot see, but when you add it all together, the spectrum and energy is enormous and has profound influence on the quality of the resulting audio signal. The reason: in an electromagnetically non-controlled environment, you will always have haphazard electromagnetic ambient fields at all frequencies going in all directions at all times. Indepth discussion of this can be found in my discourse on the LessLoss Blackbody.
Not For Your Eyes Only: FlowFluxTM conditioning
The secret to how all of this stuff works is actually not a secret at all. Quantum electrodynamics is only now beginning to open the door to so many of the phenomena we in the High End Audio business have hitherto been unable to pinpoint with knowledge and authority. We have been so preoccupied with wave theory that we find it difficult to understand the statistical basis of QED as something founded on photon-electron interactions.
Waves are an appearance to mankind. A perceived behavior, if you will. When we perceive something, we explain it in terms of waves, because we have a theory to do so (and it works). The interesting things begin when we do not yet have a theory for that which we clearly nevertheless perceive. Especially when it is something special, dear to us, something we care about. This is where all the excitement begins, at least for me.
Below, I post snapshots of two stages of the LessLoss FlowFluxTM conductor treatment process. The reason I write that these are "Not For Your Eyes Only" is that it is impossible to photograph the image of the 'live' appearance of these conductors in these states. Perhaps you will suspect that these images are highly photoshopped, but, perhaps suprisingly, no such processing was done to enhance and change these images. This is a controlled process involving heat and photon-electron interactions. The reason that these pictures do not appear 'real' is that there is a very strong amount of electromagnetic phase shifting going on, so strong in fact, that it is influencing the light falling from the camera's flash to such an extent that the hue range goes out of coverage of our available bandwidth for a single image (or for our eyes, for that matter). We sought and found an absorption solution which does not have a dominant wavelength for reflection -- something which hence does not color the sound but reveals the variety of colors which are present in natural sound.
It would be cheap to say that these are "quantum cables" because the word quantum has been so abused lately in mainstream marketing. I therefore feel it would be better to avoid the term altogether. "Signature" has a more human feel.
However, because the solution we now offer in the DFPC Signature is indeed based on photon-electron interaction, it cannot be avoided. The very foundation of our solution lies in a different understanding of electromagnetic fields than that which is explained only by wave theory. Wave theory is not wrong. It is correct. But it only explains the perceived effects. Because we as audiophiles through highly tweaked and sensitive sound systems perceive more physical interaction than that which is explained in traditional wave theory, it is time to take the new information into account in the foundation of a new theory to try to explain it. This leads directly to the formulation of the LessLoss Blackbody.

With the LessLoss FlowFluxTM approach, we consider electromagnetic waves in a way which incorporates photon-electron interaction as its very basis. And doing so, new experiments based on these new ideas result in some very interesting new solutions which we are sure you will enjoy in your personal search for better resulting sound.
